LACE is thrilled to announce The Mel and Leta Ramos Family Foundation Apprenticeship is once again seeking applicants!
This apprenticeship aims to continue the mission of the Ramos Family Foundation’s Arts Education Initiative – to ensure that all youth have access to an arts education by supporting transmission of the visual arts in all of its forms.
The role, assumed by one successful candidate, will launch in Spring 2021. The position will include remote part-time work and, pending the development of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, will include on-site work if possible. The Mel and Leta Ramos Family Foundation Apprentice will work 200 hours over 25 days which will be scheduled at the mutual convenience of the apprentice and LACE Team.
Apprenticeship is a cornerstone of LACE’s ethos and legacy with many arts professionals gaining early work experience here. LACE nurtures college students and young adults each year by providing comprehensive hands-on skill development in the nonprofit arts field. Three LACE staff members and one current board member are former apprentices. With 35-50 participants a year, a huge thank you list continues to grow – scroll down to view. We are proud of our role in preparing young people for careers in the arts, building their resumes, and introducing them to a network of artists and culture workers in LA. LACE participates in workforce development for cultural institutions and businesses through its collaboration with colleges such as UC Riverside, UCLA, Cal State Long Beach, Cal State LA, LA City College, CalArts, Otis, Art Center, Pepperdine, Asuza Pacific, Chapman, Pitzer, Claremont, and Emerson, as well as several east coast and international institutions.
LACE offers undergraduates and recent graduates the opportunity to participate in the gallery’s programming while gaining experience at a non-profit arts organization. The Apprenticeship Program provides training in areas such as administration, development, research, communications, exhibition and event production, and facility operations. Students interested in art and arts administration will especially benefit from this experience. Applicants must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a keen attention to detail, and a willingness to work in a hands-on group environment. LACE will work with each apprentice’s special interests to ensure a positive learning experience.
Apprenticeship Programs covers the following fields:
– Production (Assist with the design, fabrication, and installation of multi-media exhibitions and events)
