Tanya Bonakdar Gallery, Los Angeles seeks a full time sales director to manage and run the gallery. Candidate should have at least 3 years of experience working in sales at a commercial art gallery or auction house in Los Angeles.
Responsibilities
Main responsibilities include:
– Build and grow relationships with museum curators, collectors, critics, and writers
– Cultivate new collectors
– Develop an in-depth knowledge of gallery artists’ practices and biographies
– Work independently on sales in LA area
– Communicate regularly with other gallery locations to share sales updates and strategies
– Manage the gallery and oversee day to day operations
– Attend gallery openings, dinners, and other related events
– Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
– Contribute to LA based press outreach and strategies
Requirements
Qualifications:
– In depth knowledge and contacts in the LA art market
– A strong ability to communicate professionally with collectors, curators, and artists
– Familiarity with operating a commercial art gallery
– Sales experience
– Work independently on a day to day basis
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The position is full-time, Tuesday – Saturday, with additional hours based on events and the needs of the gallery. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
