-
Artists should be creating work that reflects today’s questions, themes, topics, and concerns.
-
Artists should be people making work that contributes to Feminist thinking, questioning, and creating. We don’t know what this is, precisely–and the process of figuring it out by proposing it and discussing it is part of the adventure! (You’ll have the opportunity to briefly explain this aspect of the project in your application)
-
We are looking especially for works that represent the experience of gender marginalized people
After the deadline, WCCW will select 20 of our favorite candidates to move onto the next round. These candidates will be featured on WCCW’s Instagram and followers will be able to vote for their favorite applicants, in advance of a special online event of LA’S FEMINIST IDOLS on Saturday, January 16th.
During the event, our judges will select the 3 winners who will be named LA’S FEMINIST IDOLS, and will move forward to create their proposed projects.
The selected artists will receive a $1,000 stipend and have a month-long period for production between mid-January and mid-February 2021, with the projects premiering on The Music Center’s social media platforms in March.
