Responsibilities
- Setting up press-ready files in InDesign using smart and effective master pages, paragraph, character, and object styles
- Laying out images and text based on art direction
- Making and checking copy editor’s revisions
- Setting and ragging type
- Cleaning up documents and prepress production
- Design and materials research with a knowledge of the contemporary art world
- Working on multiple projects on any given day and track/manage projects to ensure timely delivery
- Image correction in Photoshop and preparing files for color separations house
- Assistance in art direction of photography
Requirements
- Degree in Design, Art, or Writing preferred
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in graphic design including print production
- Immense attention to detail
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite applications (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, and Photoshop)
- Comprehensive knowledge of or a passion to learn about prepress and print production
- Strong sense of typography and page composition, especially in the context of books
- Familiarity with copy editor’s marks
- Excellent organizational skills, verbal communication, and written correspondence
- Knowledge of Mailchimp, Cargo Collective, and other current social media platforms is a plus
