Bid now through 6/14 at 8:45pm
Carla is pleased to share its art auction of works by an impressive roster of 103 L.A.-based artists. The auction, which is happening in conjunction with our Ten Year Soirée, is now live, and will conclude at 8:45pm at the soirée event on June 14th at The Pit. You can find the auction site HERE.
Each artist has contributed a small, accessibly-priced 5×7 inch work on paper; this small-scale format is inspired by blow-in cards found between the pages of print magazines. Some artists have reinterpreted this theme across other mediums: small sculptures, ceramics, photography, and fiber works are also included. The starting bids for all artworks are $300. Be sure to create an account on the website when prompted to register as a participant if you plan on bidding!
Cammie Staros, Untitled (2025). Ceramic and hardware. Image courtesy of the artist. Photo: Cammie Staros.
Among the featured works is a piece made out of ceramic and hardware created by Cammie Staros. On one hand the work, Untitled (2025), resembles a bust, and on the other, a set of watchful eyes surrounded by a warping checkered pattern. The optical illusion brings curves, depth, and movement to the otherwise flat background; all at once, the static sculpture comes to life.

Exemplifying the diverse range of mediums featured in our auction, A Room Of Her Own (2025) by Mikki Yamashiro employs vibrant acrylic yarn to produce a bright, lively room complete with spiraling pink roses, window curtains as yellow as the sun, and jubilantly red-and-white floor and wall tiles that look as though they are dancing. Meanwhile, rafa esparza’s work is just as intimate—less in its depiction of place and more so in its simplicity. Drawn in ballpoint pen on paper, the work, titled Close (2025), depicts a shirtless figure held from behind by a pair of skeleton arms—perhaps the limbs of a protector now passed on, a former partner or friend, or a beloved ancestor.

Sarah Miska is known for her intricate paintings and drawings of horses and their tails, manes, and riders. For the auction, Miska presents Backside I (2025), a painting made with watercolor and colored pencil on paper, which depicts the shiny behind of a reddish orange horse with the black hair of its tail weaved into a fishtail braid. Weaving and pattern-making also take center stage in Molly Haynes’s featured work, Highlighter (2023), a soft sculptural swatch of black, white, and bright neon yellow monofilament, polyester, and agave fiber.

Ry Rocklen’s work, Loose Fit Tile (2025), turns textiles into ceramic—a signature practice of his in which he creates sculptures of folded clothing out of porcelain: an aqua-colored polo, a faded “I Heart LA” T-shirt, a yellowed white tee. The cloth appears soft, as if you could take the shirt by the collar and shake out the wrinkles. Instead, though, the wrinkles and signs of wear and tear are forever encased, or folded, into the sculpture. Less laundered but just as meticulously crafted is Rema Ghuloum’s Rain (5/8/2025) (2025), a work of acrylic-gouache on Arches watercolor paper in which each brushstroke of red, yellow, purple, pink, and orange is as assertive and energetic as the one layered beneath it.
These works and many more are available now to be bid on until 8:45pm at the soirée event on June 14th at The Pit. You can find the auction site, which includes the complete catalogue of available works, HERE. Happy bidding!
