Position Summary:
Common Field’s Network Program Manager connects Network members to each other and the organization; creates and manages year-round programs that are responsive and representative of our national field and that respond to urgent and timely issues, challenges and opportunities. They provide administrative and programmatic leadership in the day to day management of the network and projects program, realizing existing initiatives and developing new projects that align with Common Field’s goals and values. They have a deep knowledge and awareness of the artists organization field. This position reports to the Executive Director.

Founded in 2013 and launched in 2015, the Common Field network has 700+ members across the US. Responsibilities
Membership Network Program Management
• Serve as the primary, direct point of contact with Common Field’s active and growing network of nearly 800 network members.
• Connect, listen, respond, amplify, support and advocate for network members
• Stay knowledgeable and familiar with members projects, practices, and organizations
• Create friendly pathways to engage and receive feedback from the network.
• Develop and roll out new tools to create easier ways to access ideas and thinking from network and connect Network members together more directly.
• Support the building of the CF Network with the goal of creating better representation from under-represented regions and practices across the US
• Develop regional focus areas and regional programs both in person and online
• Serve as an active member of the Network Team
• Create effective and thorough reports with the data we collect from our Network to better tell the story of our field.
Network Member Support
• Ensure members are fully utilizing the CF website, its resources and tools effectively
(profile, listings, forums, document hub, etc)
• Communicate and respond to member inquiries in a timely, detailed and personable way via email, phone, social media and in-person.
• Provide excellent tools – including precise instructions, help videos and FAQ’s – and technical support to enable members to use CF’s web profile interface.
• Prioritize automating of website tools so membership is optimized and members are able to access what they need with ease
•Work in close partnership with Communications Manager to ensure network member website technology is functional, working and continually developed as the program and member needs evolve.
• Develop new systems to better welcome and engage with new members. Manage new members orientation including: ensuring profiles are complete, sending welcome package with tools and resources, following social media channels and publically welcome new members. Work with Communications Manager to dd new members to all of CF’s communications channels.
• Membership Renewals: Ensure a smooth transition for members when their annual membership renews or lapses.
Projects Program Management
• Organize and oversee Common Field’s year-round Projects program, which exists as an extension of and is formed in response to the Network Program. Current Projects include Meet-Ups, Field Perspectives, Field Conversations, Field Histories, Research and Resources
• Create a clarity of vision for Projects and invest in growing year-round programming outside of the annual Convening
• Evaluate existing programs to ensure they are meeting the needs of our Network
• Develop and launch new Field Agents initiative as an invitational program from our Network
• Create year-round opportunities for dialog, activate our network, generate knowledge and context for our field that stem from our network and that builds from and creates momentums for our Convening
Convening
• Support the realization of the Convening project and full staff team
• Connect knowledge and ideas collected through the Convening to year-round projects and glean wisdom from Convening open call to inform project ideas and focus topics.
Administration, Program Support and Expectations
• Attend weekly team meeting
• Support other programs and projects as needed
• Review, edit and assemble reports, feedback, and assessments
• Develop project timelines and ensure deadlines are met
• Create, update and circulate membership data reports. Track member data and ensure information is up to date and can regularly be utilized effectively for outreach, fundraising and advocacy.
• Timely attendance to meetings and activities
• Manage personal to-do list and regular check-ins
• Keep calendar and schedules up to date
Requirements
• Experience in the non-profit, alternative artist organization, artist-centered field / 3-5+ years experience
• Knowledge, familiarity and commitment to the artist organization field, organizations, research and arts organizing ecosystem
• Have produced creative work that is in alignment with Common Field’s core values.
• Program development and project management experience
• Have experience overseeing developing production timelines and budgets.
• Thoughtful and excellent written and verbal communicator
• Computer and digital literacy and strong working skills in Google Drive, web CMS systems, social media platforms, and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
• Reliable, responsible, highly organized, detail-oriented
• Independent self-starter who is flexible, inventive and takes initiative
• Willing to do both practical coordination as well as be a participant in visioning and leadership
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
• The position is a full-time (40 hours/week), Exempt, Employee position
• The position works out of Common Field’s Los Angeles office (with the possibility of working remotely part-time )
• Salary range negotiated based on qualifications and experience and in accordance with the Common Field Compensation Policy.
• Occasional travel required as well as some work on evenings and weekends.
• A benefits package will also be provided including paid time off, paid sick time, paid holidays, bonus days and paid health insurance.
• The Network Program Manager must be able to attend the annual Common Field Convening. The 2020 Convening takes place in Houston, TX from April 23 – 26, 2020.
• Common Field has a BYOD (Bring Your own Device) Policy. Arrangements will be agreed with employee upon formal hiring.
• Common Field supports ongoing employee professional development and funds these activities whenever possible.
