We are currently printing runs of 6,000 every three months. Our publication is distributed locally through galleries and art related businesses, providing a direct outlet to reaching a specific demographic with art related interests and concerns.

Contemporary Art Review Los Angeles is about the here and now of the contemporary art scene in Los Angeles. We are looking for pieces that are critical, pointed, and pertinent to our time and place. We are committed to discussing various types of venues (from artist run to blue chip), artists (emerging, mid-career, outsider, established) and art practices (painting, sculpture, digital medias, performance, etc), throughout the city in an effort to expand and encourage an art dialogue that is inclusive and far reaching. Please join our conversation, and submit pieces that you feel are vital to the fabric of our city’s contemporary art community. All pieces must be about Los Angeles based artists/ exhibitions.
The following formats and topics will be considered for both online and print:
Critical essays (1,200-1,500 words)
Critical discussion of issues relevant to art and culture, that may or may not specifically reference the region.
Artist Interviews (1,200-1,500 words)
Dynamic and inventive interviews with emerging, mid-career, or established artists. A variety of mediums and formats are encouraged.
Reviews (600-800 words)
Reviews should be submitted while exhibitions are currently on view. We are looking for review writing that is spirited and dynamic, and isn’t afraid to lay down critical opinion.
Reviews about L.A. artists in other cities (600-800 words)
On exhibitions by L.A. artists showing in other cities. Should be currently on view.
Snap Reviews (200-300 words)(online only)
Brief and to the point, these reviews waste no time dilly dallying. Get to the point, get to the critique, and get out. Submissions should be sent by Sunday night following Friday and Saturday openings. Snap Reviews post every Tuesday.
